No Effing Way. words can't express how i feel after watching The Rooftop Prince. okay, calm down Arifah. there have to be a resolution. see, this is why i love korean dramas. not all of them are perfect, but some dramas make it seem like Hollywood is just a piece of crap. Korean dramas just make one feel so excited, puzzled, and eager for more.
before i get even deeper, let me start of with the plot. Crown Prince Lee Gak of Joseon
whose wife, the Crown Princess, had suddenly drowned. Suspecting his
wife has been murdered, Crown Prince Lee Gak hires three men outside the
court to act as his private task force and find the culprit.
Mysteriously, while searching clues for the culprit, they travel 300
years into the future and land in modern-day Seoul
in the rooftop apartment belonging to Park-ha, who has returned to
Seoul from U.S in search of her biological parents. Soon after landing
in the modern day Seoul, and to his surprise, he runs across a woman
that looks exactly like his drowned crown princess. However, he soon
finds out that there is also a man, looking exactly like himself, who
lived in the modern day Korea. Although with difficulty, the men, with
the help of Park-ha, try to fit into modern times while trying to
reconnect with the past and solve the mystery of the his wife's death.[1]
even before i watch this drama, i know that the drama would seem interesting. the thought of 4 guys from the hangbok era who travels to the future seems like a hilarious get up. and after even watching the first episode, i kept wanting for more.
i completely adore the trios, man bo, yong sool and chi san.
the three of them completes each other and always make situations a lot more laughable. and hell, Micky Yoochun's acting was superb! he should recieve an award for his performance in this drama, it was completely realistic. now, he is officially my new bias <3 haha. get ready for some stalking. beginning to get more interested in sungkyuwan scandal since he's in it. and han ji min is a bombshell :) she is also in my waiting list. both micky yoochun and han ji min brought the same intensity to acting and you feel that hjm was not a mere decoration to the drama.. they have balance and brings the best out of each other ...
So all in all, this drama was amazing, and has officially become one of
my all-time favorite dramas. I think that this drama is for everyone,
for those who love modern romance, those who love comedy, those who love
historical dramas and even those who watch it for good looking people,
because it has it all. The drama, the romance, the laughs, the cries,
you will have all of that in this drama and that makes it amazing. So I
recommend everyone who loves a well-rounded amazing drama to watch it,
because I am 99.99% sure you will not regret it. In fact, you will be
excited and happy with your choice, because once you start watching, you
can’t and won’t want to stop. though i'm still not satisfied with the ending. the ending was a happy ending, but in a bittersweet way. this left the whole fans gaga and kept making assumptions to what the ending meant. the writers i say, were pretty smart about this because they leave it to the fans to gag up to their wildest imaginations. the question is, who was the guy in the end? Lee Gak or Tae Yong? i mean, Lee Gak IS technically Tae Yong, but does that mean he was transferred to Tae Yong's body, via his soul or was it him entirely? the ending was ambigous. i would like to think that lee gak died because in the letter he says that he is willing to die just so that he could see her face as he misses her ...because how on earth did he suddenly transports himself to the future? by what means? on second thought, weirder things had happened in this show. the villans did a great job too.
i cried continuosly for the two last episodes. especially the last episodes. i think the whole pint of the show is just to show that Lee Gak and Park Ha are soulmates. the way they talk to each other in the end, the whole "even after 300 years, i would still love you" says it all. and omg, that line killed me <3 i never been addicted to a korean drama since sega. maybe this drama could even surpass sega, or maybe ... it was a tie? i cried hysterically ... thank God no one was looking, or else they might be asking oblivious questions that even i can't explain or am to tired.
i think i might even watch that drama again. or listen to Baek Ji Young 's After A Long Time OST. one thing for sure, is that even after 300 years, i think i would still love this drama.
