The movie i'm gonna discuss about is titled, "Easy A", starring Emma Stone, Penn Badgley,Alyson Michalka, amanda Bynes and some other actors/actresses that i care less about.
Olive (Emma Stone) is a highschool nobody. She has no reputation and is on nobody’s radar. However, a small lie about having sex with a non-existent boyfriend soon becomes fuel for the school rumour mill. Suddenly, she has a reputation as a high class hooker. To those in the know, she’s accepting gifts from other social outcasts to pretend she’s had sex with them, therefore boosting both of their reps. The people around her who have problems made her lie even more, therefore people kept on hating and calling her slutty even though all the rumors isn't true.
In my opinion, Olivia is a somewhat intelligent character, but does not know how to handle things that revolves around her life.It was her fault that she lied her friend in the first place, but her friend (Alyson Michalka) kept on begging her to say things that wasn't real.C'mon, we all do that sometimes, just to please people, right? but by doing a small mistake, the whole school believed that she actually "did it" with a guy.
Soon, people with low-self esteem began to take advantage of her by making her lie.Example, her friend which is gay asked her to lie about them already " doing it" together just so that he could prove to people he is straight. She lies just for the sake of a friend. And at that point, she is technically not the bad girl.
Easy A taps into the deep seated human desire to be significant. To have other people notice you and recognise your existence. It doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert or an extrovert, no one wants to be isolated and ignored. Everybody is searching for a connection, something that says I belong. Olive would much rather have a reputation for being a bad girl than no reputation at all. One character, who desires Olive’s notoriety, makes the call “at least you’re being thought of.”
If you can’t stand teen movies, Easy A isn’t going to change your mind. If you’re a teenager or spend time with other teenagers, this is a great movie to interact with. It doesn’t (thankfully) go for the gross out element of many teen movies. There’s no nudity and while there are plenty of sexual references, there are no actual sex scenes. Though do be cautious of the strong language.A lot of bad language has been thrown out in this movie, so i suggest it to be watched buy only appropriate viewers form 17 and above.
Overall, i think Easy A is a great movie, with good lessons you can relate to your daily life, that not usually teen movies can give now days.
